IN MEMORIAM Tom Wilson, MHS '60 has passed.
It is with great sadness that I send my condolences on learning of the passing of our good friend and classmate, Tom "Woody" Wilson. We last visited with Tom at our 55th class reunion here in Mahtomedi Minn. Tom was surely a rock of a man, quiet but strong and gentle. He was a good friend to all of us and he will be missed but will be affectionately thought of in the months and years to come. We were unaware of any health issues that affected him but understand he was diagnosed and passed a short time later. In talking to some of his classmates and teammates, we all agreed that it was especially shocking to learn of Tom's passing because he was the one, of all of us, that seemed invincible because of his strength and quiet demeanor. It does not surprise any of us that he would choose to live his last days at home, a place he truly loved, attended by those closest to him. Please accept the thoughts and prayers from Tom's friends and classmates here and around the country. He will truly be missed by all of us. Rest in Peace, Tom Wilson.
IN MEMORIAM-
Sadly, we have lost a friend and schoolmate, Jerry Robinson, MHS '62. We send our condolences and Prayers to Wendy and the entire Robinson family and Class of '62 on the loss of Jerry(Number 3 below).
IN MEMORIAM-
Over the years, we have lost classmates, schoolmates, teachers, Administrators and friends. Here is certainly an incomplete list of names of those lost to us now, but certainly remembered. If you know of someone we should add to this special group, please let me know and we'll remember them as well.
IN MEMORIAM-It is with a heavy heart that I let you know of the sudden passing of our beloved sister Gwen Langford Weggeland (MHS '67) who lived in San Diego, Ca for 40+ years. Gwen was predeceased by her husband, Dave Weggeland, parents, Alan “Pat” and Maxine Langford, several cousins and friends. She is survived by brothers Jim and Tom Langford (MHS '60), lifetime friends Cathy Stuart Ginsberg and Signe Carlson Koukol along with her special San Diego friends Carole Courlang and Kirk Gardner and others. Gwen worked at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego as a surgical scheduler for 37 years. When our mother passed, several years ago, Gwen took up the challenge of “mothering” her two older brothers, making sure they followed doctors orders, lived proper lives (well, she TRIED), or else. She was so proud, and rightly so, of planning the Langford Family Reunion held at Yellowstone National Park in 1991. She called and wrote to Aunts, Uncles, cousins and, ultimately, over 75 descendants of N.P. Langford, member of the Washburn-Langford Expedition for the Discovery of The Yellowstone Park, (I'm thinking the Native Americans already knew it was there though)NP was the first National Park Superintendent. This was accomplished before emails and the computer...no small task. A celebration of Gwen's life will be held, for family and friends, in San Diego on January 21, 2023 with plans for a gathering in Minnesota to be announced later this year. Our thanks to so many of you who sent prayers and thoughts following Gwen's passing. Jim and Tom Langford and families

Nancy was born September 13, 1949 in Munich, Germany where her father was stationed with the US Army. Nancy made her first transatlantic flight as a newborn, traveling with her mother across the ocean to Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington DC for treatment. This was the first of many health crises she faced (and overcame) throughout her life. She was actually famous in the hospital (and for many years) as “The Peanut”, a tiny scrapper who addressed and met life challenges head-on.
The second daughter of Ken and Billie Deans, she was joined by four brothers, who she loved and led through many crazy childhood adventures. When Nancy was 4-years old, the family was stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX where Nancy attended Loretta Academy. The Deans moved to Ft. Sill Oklahoma in 1955, where Nancy joyfully learned to become a skilled swimmer.
When her father retired from the army in 1959, the family returned to Minnesota and lived in Mahtomedi. She attended St. Jude’s School, and then Mahtomedi High School.
Nancy was always a high achieving academic student, in high school, undergraduate studies at Mankato State, and graduate school at University of Minnesota Duluth. After attaining her advanced degree and licensing in speech pathology, she went on to live and work in northern Minnesota in Grand Marais as a speech pathologist for 5-years.
After five years (1974) she left Grand Marais and became the Speech Language Coordinator for School District 196. Nancy met Dennis (School Psychologist) at Northview Elementary School. Dennis became the love and rock of her life and added Wisconsin, farming and the Petersons to her rich family life. In 1979 Nancy became a speech therapist in the Lakeville School district where she remained until her retirement in June 2007, after 36 years.
Nancy and Dennis raised three beautiful children: David, born 1981, Ananda, born 1982, and Alisha, born 1988. They all grew up in Eagan and live in the area. Nancy had one grandchild, Aaden born 2008.
Nancy became a very successful water-color painter. Her painting high light was winning “Best in Show “ in 2018.

Helen spent many happy hours at the park and swimming in the lake. Helen remembered her childhood to the very end of her life and would share her recollections of the old days. They met again after the war and were married June 22, 1946. They purchased a house overlooking McKusick Lake on the edge of Stillwater where Helen has lived for the past 76 years. In this home they raised 2 daughters and 2 sons. As the children got older, Helen went back to work. Dianne Evelyn Beck (MHS-'59), aged 78, passed away on July 5th, 2020 at home in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was born in Pennsylvania and made her way with her family to Mahtomedi, Minnesota in her early years, graduating from Mahtomedi High School in 1959. Later, she eloped and married on a boat traveling to South America where she lived for twelve years, raising four children. Later homes included Louisiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.
If she wasn’t settled in reading one of several books from the local library, she was sewing a coat for the neighborhood dog in need or for the pups at the local shelters. She loved family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and greats, and enjoyed helping cook lavish dinners on the holidays. Old homes caught her eye and prompted her to dream of the potential they had under her loving hands.
Dianne received her Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Tennessee and for many years, she worked at The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. At the time, she was only one of a few women in her division and helped write several journal articles while there.
Dianne will be interred at Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center in Washburn, Tennessee with family in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be made to the animal rescue of your choice or to Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center at www.narrowridge.org , earmarked for the natural burial cemetery. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
